About On Rope
The logbook built for rope access professionals
On Rope is a digital logbook that tracks your hours, certifications, and job history โ so you always know where you stand toward your next IRATA or SPRAT level. Log a job from the tower, get it signed off before you drive home, and export the whole book whenever an assessor, an employer, or a client asks for it.
What is On Rope?
Operationally Necessary Records Of Professional Experience โ On Rope replaces the paper logbook with a digital one. Every job you log rolls up automatically into your pre-certification and certified hours, your countdown to certification expiry, and the hours you still need for your next level upgrade.
That rolling total is the whole point. A paper logbook stores what you did; it does not tell you how far you have left to go. On Rope adds every entry to the right bucket the moment you save it, so the number you care about โ hours remaining to Level 2 or Level 3 โ is always current, not something you recalculate with a pen the week before an assessment.
Why technicians move off paper
A rope access logbook is a career document. It is also, for most technicians, a water-damaged notebook living in a kit bag, with a year of hours in it and no copy anywhere. The failure modes are familiar: a book left in a hire van, ink run through by rain on a roof, a supervisor who has moved companies and can no longer sign for work you genuinely did, and totals that have to be added up by hand every time somebody asks.
The record itself is rarely the problem. Getting it verified, keeping it safe, and turning it into a number on demand is. On Rope keeps the same information in a form that backs itself up, adds itself up, and can be signed the day the work happens rather than months later from memory.
Who it's for
- Technicians working toward Level 2 or Level 3. You are logging hours against a target and want to know the gap without doing arithmetic on a kit bag.
- Supervisors and instructors. You are asked to verify other people's jobs, and you would rather do it from your phone in the van than sign a stack of books at the end of a swing.
- Rope access companies. You need clean, exportable records for clients, audits, and insurers โ not photographs of handwritten pages.
What you get
Logbook entries
Log rope access, standby, instructor, and training hours with job details and photos, so each entry carries its own evidence instead of a one-line description.
Level tracking
See exactly how many hours stand between you and your next certification level, recalculated every time you save an entry.
Cert expiry alerts
Know how many days are left before your certification expires, at a glance โ long enough ahead that booking a revalidation is a plan, not a scramble.
Job map
Every logged job location plotted on a map of where you've worked: a career's worth of towers, roofs, bridges and vessels in one view.
Supervisor sign-off
Send a signature request so a supervisor can verify a job right from their phone, while the detail is fresh and they are still on the same site as you.
Export anytime
Pull your full logbook as CSV or Excel whenever you need it โ for an assessment, a new employer, or your own records. The book stays yours.
How it works
1 ยท Log the job
Enter the site, the hours, the type of work and any photos. It takes a minute at the end of a shift, which is the only way a logbook ever stays current.
2 ยท Get it signed
Send a signature request to your supervisor. They verify it from their own phone โ no shared login, no chasing a book across sites months later.
3 ยท Watch the total move
Your certified and pre-certification hours update, and the countdown to your next level and to certification expiry moves with them.

Two vertical cuts about the logbook, made for phones. Both are silent for now — sound is still being chosen.
Common questions
Is On Rope a replacement for my IRATA or SPRAT logbook?
It is a digital record of the same work: hours, job details, and supervisor verification, kept in one place and exportable as CSV or Excel. Certifying bodies set their own rules about what they accept and in what form, so check with your assessor or trainer before an assessment. On Rope is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or certified by IRATA or SPRAT.
How does supervisor sign-off work?
You send a signature request for a specific job. Your supervisor opens it and signs from their own phone โ they do not need an On Rope account of their own, and you do not share a login. The signature is attached to that entry.
Can I get my data out?
Yes, at any time, as CSV or Excel. Your logbook is a career record and should never be trapped in one company's software โ including this one.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. On Rope runs in the browser on a phone, tablet, or laptop, which is deliberate: the moment you are most likely to log a job is standing next to it, not at a desk later.
What does it cost?
Every account starts with a 30-day free trial, with monthly, six-month and annual plans after that. You can export your logbook whether or not you continue.
What kinds of hours can I log?
Rope access, standby, instructor and training hours, each logged separately so your totals reflect the kind of work you actually did.
